Abstract

Objective: To find out Demographic Characteristics and Associated Communication Disorders in Patients with Facial Cleft. Methodology: An observational cross-sectional study was carried out at UOL from February 2023 to June 2023. Data was collected from 124 OFC patients. Data was collected by using a standardized questionnaire “Prevalence of Cleft Lip and Palate”. Questionnaire was composed of two sections. Section A which was to be filled by the parents, Section A of questionnaire contain demographics like patients’ gender, area in which patient lives, consanguinity among parents, and their socioeconomic status and mother’ health status demographics. Section B of questionnaire consist of 3 parts which consisted of medical records like patterns of OFC which include its type, laterality and side of cleft, furthermore, section B consists of surgical interventions and associated communication disorders such as articulation, hypernasality, hearing loss and dysphagia. Data was collected and then analyzed by using SPSS version 20.5.
