Abstract

This research delves into the concept of resilience in sports, recognizing its critical role in optimizing athletic performance. Despite growing interest from researchers, policymakers, and practitioners, the key factors that drive resilience remain unclear, especially within the sports context. The research objectives are two-fold: (1) to compare resilience levels between players representing themselves in cricket, athletics, and boxing, and (2) identify potential gender-based variation in resilience within these sports. Total number of subjects participated in this study were six hundred players, within the age bracket of 18-28 years, with an equal split between both gender, who have at least once represented AIU competitions in last three years. Statistical techniques employed were Analysis of variance and post hoc tests to detect considerable variation among subjects of all groups. The research assumptions predicted were: 1) Cricket players would display greater resilience than those in athletics and boxing. 2) Male players would exhibit greater resilience levels compared to female athletes. The study revealed no significant differences in resilience levels among athletes across various sports categories. Nonetheless, notable gender-specific patterns emerged: Male athletes demonstrated greater resilience in boxing and cricket, whereas, Female players exhibited high resilience in athletics.
